Lambert Conformal Conic projection.
Introduction
A Lambert conformal conic projection is a conic map projection. It superimposes a cone over the sphere of the Earth, with two reference parallels secant to the globe and intersecting it.
Properties
- Conformal.
- The scale of the projection is
true
along the two given standard parallels. - Parallels are unequally spaced arcs of concentric circles.
- Meridians are equally spaced arcs of circles cutting the parallels at right angles.
- This projection is used for maps of regions with a dominant east-west shape.
Example
Sample code
ILcdProjection projection =
new TLcdLambertConformal(42.0, 57.0, 0.0, 50.0);
Implementation aspects
The equations of the lambert conformal conic projection are taken from [Snyder1987].
