This article details how to transform a single-node LuciadFusion setup that’s already in use into a multi-node setup. If you aren’t familiar with the LuciadFusion multi-node concepts yet, read the LuciadFusion multi-node introduction first.

Transform single-node into multi-node

Creating a multi-node setup from a single-node setup isn’t that different from creating a multi-node setup from scratch. Make sure that:

  • Your current LuciadFusion instance runs LuciadFusion 2020.1 or newer. You need at least LuciadFusion 2020.1 for a multi-node setup. If you don’t have that version yet, upgrade to a newer version first.

  • The version of your current LuciadFusion instance matches the version you plan to use on all other instances in your multi-node setup. In a multi-node setup, all LuciadFusion instances must run the same version.

  • All instances can access your datastore location. Each new LuciadFusion instance must re-use the datastore location of your current LuciadFusion instance. Otherwise, uploads or services with pre-processed data may not work.

Technically, you can choose a different location if you want to, but that means that you have to re-upload all data, and re-create services with pre-processed data.

After considering those points, you can follow the Multi-node setup guide as if your existing LuciadFusion instance is a new installation. These are the only differences with the multi-node setup from scratch:

  • You have already configured the database URL of your current LuciadFusion instance.

  • You must point all other LuciadFusion instances to the datastore path of your current LuciadFusion instance.

  • You have already run LuciadFusion for the first time, which means that you have already initialized the database schema.
